Prefab kits are designed for everyone.
A custom KREW build is designed for you.
Prefab kits are designed to ship in a box and fit anyone. A custom KREW build is designed for your exact space, the way you'll actually use it, and the way it should look on your property.
The difference between a $5,000 kit and a custom build isn't visible from the outside. It's in the materials, the layers, and the joints — the parts that determine whether you have a sauna in five years.

Western red cedar, hemlock, alder, or thermally-modified Thermory. Selected for performance against heat, humidity, and the DFW weather cycle. ¾"–1" tongue-and-groove, not the ⅜" you'll find in a prefab kit.

Most sauna failures come down to bad airflow. We design intake and exhaust placement into the build from day one. Even heat distribution. Humidity pulled out properly. Not an afterthought.

Your choice — not ours. We help you pick based on how you'll actually use it. Harvia, Huum, or Finnleo. Proper flue and clearances. Dedicated 240V circuit. Built to last.

Decks, privacy walls, lighting, paths — the sauna becomes part of your property. Not a generic box dropped on a pad. Designed around your home, your access, your views.

Reviews from clients of the KREW Build & Design team.
Most 1-2 person outdoor builds start at $7,500. Typical projects with integrated features land between $7,500 and $10,000. Larger custom installations (with extended decks, privacy walls, full landscape integration) are quoted individually based on scope.
Every quote is the all-in price: design, materials, build, electrical, permits, and installation. No mystery line items.
Because prefab manufacturers only sell you the structure. The advertised $5,995 doesn't include the concrete pad ($800–$2,500), the outdoor electrical run ($1,500–$3,800), the building permit, or installation labor. By the time it's actually usable, most prefab buyers spend $9,000–$13,000.
A KREW custom build often costs less in total — and you get a sauna designed for your space, not a generic box.
Outdoor saunas are permitted in nearly every DFW city, but the specifics vary. Setback requirements (typically 3–10 feet from property lines), height limits, and electrical inspections differ between Frisco, Plano, Southlake, Highland Park, and University Park.
HOAs sometimes add their own architectural review. We handle the city research and permit process for every project — and tell you upfront if there are any issues we need to plan around before you sign anything.
Wood-fired gives you the traditional sauna experience — the smell, the slow heat-up, the ritual. Needs a proper flue and clearances.
Electric is fast, clean, and on-demand. Ready in 30–45 minutes. Needs a dedicated 240V circuit.
Most clients pick based on lifestyle, not budget. We walk you through the tradeoffs during consultation.
Western red cedar is the gold standard. Natural rot resistance, low thermal conductivity, aromatic, beautiful. Premium price, premium result.
Hemlock is lighter in color, milder in scent, more budget-friendly. Clean Scandinavian aesthetic.
Alder offers a smooth, refined finish. Light reddish-brown tones, minimal scent, comfortable contact temperature. Modern aesthetic at a moderate price point.
Thermally-modified wood (Thermory) is virtually rot-proof — heat-treated to remove sugars and resins. Best for outdoor builds. Modern, darker aesthetic.
Most DFW cities require an electrical permit for the dedicated 240V circuit, and permanent outdoor structures usually require a building permit. Highland Park and University Park have additional architectural review.
We handle all permitting and inspections as part of every project — you never have to navigate a city office.
Yes — many clients use theirs year-round. The DFW climate is favorable for outdoor sauna use 8–10 months of the year.
The key is engineering for Texas: UV-resistant treatments, enhanced insulation, proper ventilation, drainage built for sudden storms. Stainless hardware so nothing corrodes in humidity. Thermally-modified wood or treated cedar rated for outdoor exposure.
Every KREW build comes with a written warranty covering structure, materials, and workmanship. Heater manufacturers (Harvia, Huum, Finnleo) carry their own warranties on the heating units.
After the final walkthrough, we don't disappear. You get a care guide, our direct line, and a one-year check-in.
Yes. Financing is available through trusted home-improvement lending partners. Terms up to 84 months. Monthly payments typically $100–$300 depending on project size and term. We share specifics when we put together your quote.
Subject to credit approval. Not all applicants will qualify.
Possibly. Saunas can be HSA/FSA-eligible expenses with a Letter of Medical Necessity from a licensed practitioner — typically for chronic pain, cardiovascular, or autoimmune conditions. We work with TrueMed to streamline that documentation for qualifying buyers.
Eligibility depends on your specific health profile and HSA/FSA plan.
